The Pulse Business' second HR Leaders Pulse offered fresh insight on the biggest challenge they are up against. Of the c550 UK-basedHR leaders we pulsed, nearly one in three (29%) say they are most challenged by managing diversity and inclusion in the work place.

That said, the topic of well being and mental health drew comment with one HR leader observing, "High levels of stress and other mental health issues are the greatest contributor to sickness absence in our organisation. This is a self perpetuating problem that affects service to our patients and also creates budgetary pressures."

Our next Pulse will look at the main obstacle to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.

In conclusion, one HR leader opined, "Managing work/life balance and colleague engagement, due to a significant burden of compliance and reporting, alongside a challenging marketplace, making cost control so important... We are asking people to do more and much of the work is non value adding."
